This report presents data on the prices of cocaine, heroin, marijuana, hallucinogens, depressants, and stimulants in the United States from January 1992 through December 1995, as well as purity levels for cocaine and heroin and the THC content of marijuana.
Abstract
The analysis revealed that cocaine prices at the kilogram level remained relatively low in the primary importation and distribution centers of Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, and New York City, as well as in most other major cities during October-December 1995. The national average purity of cocaine remained relatively high. The most significant trend for heroin is its continued high purity at the gram and ounce levels. The price for a pound of commercial-grade marijuana ranged from $300 to $400 during October-December 1995. Methamphetamine was readily available, particularly in the western United States. The overall price for LSD ranged relatively low, ranging from 25 cents to $5 per wholesale dosage unit and from $1 to $10 per retail dosage unit. Tables
