Abstract
The publications of the Ministry of Justice are first listed, along with its e-mail and home page addresses. The number of library holdings are also reported. This is followed by a description of an investigation, sponsored by the National Police Board, of the gathering and dissemination of criminal justice information in Sweden. The report, which was presented in October 1997, notes that Sweden has no centralized database of criminal justice information. The report recommends that the Swedish National Police College Library, which has the most extensive criminal justice collections among the libraries within the administration of justice, become the National Resource Library for criminal justice as well as police science. There is a tradition of library cooperation in Sweden. The Royal Library of Sweden is in charge of the system. In connection with this system there is a LIBRIS Web Search, which can browse the database of 3 million titles that constitute the holdings of more than 160 Swedish libraries, mainly research libraries. The contents of the database are outlined in this paper. The National Council for Crime Prevention supports local crime prevention initiatives and provides the government and the judicial authorities with basic information on measures and priorities in criminal policy and in the evaluation of relevant reforms. The Council is responsible for all official judicial statistics. Its publications are listed. The National Police Board is the central administrative authority of the Swedish police. Its publications are also listed and described.
