This bibliography, which contains approximately 3,271 entries, has listings of publications written or compiled from early in this century to the present day, although most were published within the last 30 years. The chapter on "Criminology" has listings that pertain to studying, teaching, and understanding emerging criminological theories about women, as well as articles on research and the practitioners of criminology, criminal justice, and corrections. A chapter on "Crimes" looks at the crimes women commit; there is information on newer topics, such as fetal abuse and battered women who kill, as well as substance abuse and white collar crime. A chapter on "Arrest, Prosecution, and Sentencing" addresses issues of race and gender and includes information on alternative sentencing and the death penalty. The battered woman's syndrome is in this chapter because of its use as a defense. One chapter focuses on "Female Juveniles" in the criminal justice system, specifically in the areas of delinquency, gangs, and prostitution. A chapter on "Corrections" includes citations on jails, prisons, and other issues such as mothers in prison, prison programs, and health issues of incarcerated women.
