The primary goal of the project was the development of counselor training materials, including a text or handbook, training support materials for instructors, and a videotape that discusses the need for this service and provides examples of successful counseling approaches. Another project goal was interagency collaboration. This involved providing consultation and support to a number of other agencies and organizations doing similar work and obtaining assistance from others. Activities and outcomes from November 1993 to June 30, 1996, included the provision of graduate assistantships and other related forms of support for three students; these students did much of the work for the project and also developed expertise in the abuse of people with disabilities. This report also lists the two books and other related publications associated with the project. Although the original project plans called for the development of one training tape, this goal was revised to produce a series of 11 tapes. The titles of these tapes are listed. Other project resources described are an Internet web site; a listing of workshops, conferences, and other related information dissemination; a survey of counselors; and some activities related to hate crimes, euthanasia, and the development of nondiscriminatory transplant policies.
