Property crimes (burglary, larceny, and motor vehicle theft) as a group increased 3 percent across the State. Burglary dropped 2 percent, and larceny was up 4 percent, while motor vehicle theft rose 5 percent; arson was down 2 percent. The number of juveniles under the age of 18 arrested for Crime Index offenses increased 4 percent over 1994, compared to a 2-percent decrease in adults arrested (18 and over). Youths (under age 18) arrested for violent crime decreased 1 percent, with adult arrests increasing 1 percent.
