The annual report of the Nebraska court system for 1997 presents caseload statistics for the Supreme Court, the Court of Appeals, district and county courts in the State's 12 judicial districts, and juvenile courts.
Abstract
Statistics show the Nebraska Supreme Court disposed of 305 cases and the Court of Appeals disposed of 1,111 cases in 1997. District courts handled 37,733 cases: 6,733 criminal cases, 50 habeas corpus cases, 7,505 regular civil cases, 22,069 domestic relations cases, and 1,376 appellate actions. County courts handled 178,170 misdemeanor/traffic ordinance cases, 105,850 misdemeanor/nontraffic ordinance cases, 10,282 felony cases, 53,140 civil cases, 10,849 small claims cases, 6,396 probate/inheritance tax cases, 864 adoption cases, and 6,473 cases. Juvenile courts in three counties disposed of 4,566 cases in 1997, a significant increase over the 2,388 cases in 1988.
