This pocket guide for police officers is designed as a reference guide to basic information about communications resources, specific offenses, investigation of different types of crimes, interrogation, police officer safety and health, transportation, weapons and ballistics, and handling of natural disasters, first aid, and other topics.
Abstract
The section on communications lists the phonetic alphabet used in law enforcement and by the military, Spanish phrases, SWAT hand signals, the American Sign Language alphabet, and Morse code. The next section defines and lists the signs of crimes against children, including child abuse, missing children, and child homicides. Additional sections summarize arson and fire investigation, drunk driving investigation, motor vehicle theft investigation, crime scene response, investigative tools and equipment, interviews of victims and witnesses, search patterns, and the handling of bomb threats.
