Abstract
The reader is led through the basic principles of photography, which encompass cameras and lenses, film, filters, exposure determination, and flash photography. The material gradually moves into more advanced photographic applications such as the use of infrared and ultraviolet materials, close-up lenses, and a number of special accessories. Other chapters discuss photographic evidence collection in various stages and types of investigations. These chapters cover crime scene photography, arson and questionable fires, traffic accident photography, deaths, identification photography, fingerprint photography, impression and tool mark photography, document examinations that use photography and copying techniques, surveillance photography, and photographic court exhibits. The book does not attempt to illustrate how every individual piece of evidence must be photographed, since each case, just as the evidence, will differ. The book does, however, provide the reader with the necessary information for photographing the various types of evidence. Changes from the first edition include an expanded chapter on surveillance photography, with the inclusion of video; new material on photographic film; expanded chapters on flash photography and camera types; and new material on identification photography. Extensive illustrative figures and a subject index
