Abstract
Ethics is defined to mean principles of accepted rules of conduct for a particular individual or group, as mandated by laws, policies, or procedures. Certain factors contribute to attitudes and actions and thus affect the ethical behavior of police and corrections officers. These factors include the environment, training, home life, individual beliefs, citizens, and stress. Fifty scenarios are presented, and each is accompanied by questions and discussion points. Measures criminal justice administrators can implement to encourage ethical conduct among police and corrections professionals are identified. An appendix contains the Law Enforcement Code of Ethics and the American Correctional Association Code of Ethics. 11 references
