The PSAs are designed to heighten public awareness of the epidemic of youth violence and to encourage community action. The goal is to motivate parents, youth counselors, religious leaders, business and community leaders, and young people to do something about violence in their communities. The PSAs illustrate the magnitude of youth violence and suggest viewers call a toll-free number, 1-800-WE-PREVENT, to become involved in preventing violence and saving young people. The PSAs also provide information on what children think about committing violent acts and becoming a victim of violence.
