This report highlights activities carried out in 1997 and 1998 by the United Nations Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute (UNICRI) and affiliated institutions and centers that comprise the UN Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice Program Network.
Abstract
Activities of the UNICRI included coordination with participants in the program network, international crime victim surveys, research on the role of criminal law in environmental protection, corruption prevention strategies, international trends in corrections and probation, juvenile justice, punishment, trafficking in persons, assistance to Albania in the prevention of crime and the administration of justice, and an international seminar for judges and prosecutors from Bosnia- Herzegovina. Activities of affiliated institutions and centers included those carried out by the Asia and Far East Institute for the Prevention of Crime and the Treatment of Offenders, the Latin American Institute for the Prevention of Crime and the Treatment of Offenders, the European Institute for Crime Prevention and Control, and the African Institute for the Prevention of Crime and the Treatment of Offenders, the Australian Institute of Criminology, the International Centre for Criminal Law Reform and Criminal Justice Policy, the International Institute of Higher Studies in Criminal Sciences, the Naif Arab Academy for Security Services, the U.S. National Institute of Justice, the Raoul Wallenberg Institute of Human Rights and Humanitarian Law, and the International Centre for the Prevention of Crime.
