Abstract
Tables for trend data (1988-97) address reported crimes and crime rates, reported crime clearances and clearance rates, felony arrests (adult and juvenile breakdown), misdemeanor arrests (adult and juvenile breakdown), and total law enforcement dispositions of adult and juvenile arrests. Other trend data tables cover final law enforcement, prosecution, and court dispositions of adult felony arrests; the aforementioned by percent of disposition type; adult probation caseloads and actions; persons held in local adult facilities; full-time criminal justice personnel; and criminal justice fiscal year expenditures. Current year (1997) data on crimes show the number of Index crimes by county and rate per 100,000 population; arson crimes by type of property and county; arson crimes reported and cleared; and domestic violence calls for assistance. Data on arrests include adult felony arrests by offense, county, and gender; adult misdemeanor arrests by offense, county, and gender; and similar data for juveniles. Current data also encompass adult and juvenile arrests by age and specific offense; law enforcement dispositions of adult and juvenile arrests by level of offense, county, and gender; and adult and juvenile arrests by race/ethnic group and specific offense. Data on adult probation show the active caseload as of December 31, 1997, by type of court by county; adults placed on probation, January 1 through December 31, 1997, by type of court by county; adults removed from Superior Court probation, January 1-December 31, 1997, by type of removal by county; adults removed from lower court probation by type of removal by county; and 1997 population by county. 27 tables and appended known data limitations and characteristics, a glossary of criminal justice terms used in the publication, and lists of the penal and other statutory codes that are included in each of the felony and misdemeanor arrest offense categories
