The 1998 annual report of the District of Columbia courts highlights efforts to administer justice fairly and efficiently and to provide quality services to citizens, as well as accomplishments during the year.
Abstract
The annual report notes that fiscal year 1998 was a time of transition for courts in the District of Columbia and a time of severe budget constraints. The courts faced challenges but still accomplished a great deal. The annual report contains information on the Joint Committee on Judicial Administration, court committees, and court organization. In addition, it describes court finances, strategic planning goals, and court involvement in the community. Caseload data on and activities of the Court of Appeals and the Superior Court are provided, as well as data on civil, criminal, family, and probate case activities. Finally, it includes sections on court dispute resolution and other caseload activities related to child support, domestic violence, taxes, and juries, as well as sections on the administrative structure of the courts, social services activities, and court reporting activities.
