Abstract
A chapter on bomb threats and actions encompasses police action and fire department response and evacuation planning and administration. Two chapters cover business travel protection and cargo and shipping theft. A chapter on contract security officers discusses registration, wages, turnover, benefits, post instructions, staffing, legal authority, drug testing, physical and psychological testing, and daily management. Customer service and expectations are considered in the fifth chapter. Topics of this chapter include office thefts, parking lot security, and uniformed security staff. A chapter on domestic violence is included because it often spills over into the workplace as irate spouses often seek to attack their partners or ex-partners on their jobs. Three chapters address emergency planning, executive protection, and facility security assessment. Separate chapters cover specific offenses, such as fraud, office thefts, robbery, and workplace violence. Remaining chapters address investigations, international security, kidnap and ransom insurance, personal protection planning, police liaison, pre-employment background investigations, preparing a company case for court, retail security and loss prevention, security liability and reporting, security system purchase, security contract bid specifications, the use of nonemployee service contractors, and worksite weapons-armed personnel.
