This report portrays the crime situation in Arkansas in 1998.
Abstract

The report is based on summary information submitted by nearly 200 law enforcement agencies in Arkansas. It is an overall tally of arrests and offenses known to and reported by law enforcement agencies and does not include any data relating to prosecution, adjudication, or correction, and does not draw any conclusions on the causes of crime. The report is divided into nine sections: (1) The Uniform Crime Reporting Program in Arkansas; (2) Crime Summary; (3) 1998 Crime Index Data (murder, rape, robbery, aggravated assault, burglary, theft, motor vehicle theft, and arson); (4) Law Enforcement Officers Assaulted; (5) Crime Index Offenses by Contributor; (6) Value of Stolen and Recovered Property; (7) Arrest Data; (8) Law Enforcement Employee Data; and (9) Glossary. The report reminds users of these data that crime is a social problem and therefore a concern of the entire community. The efforts of law enforcement are limited to factors within its control.
