Hidden surveillance cameras and video systems can aid police safety and protection, protect an officer from being ruined by false accusations, and catch and convict offenders.
Abstract
Covert video systems can be disguised in exit signs, coffee makers, picture frames, and ties and can record drug buys, money laundering, larceny, and other offenses. Ed Spiva, senior instructor at the Georgia Police Academy, teaches law enforcement how to read video camera specifications and emphasizes that the brand name means little. Factors to consider in selecting video surveillance equipment include the technology the criminal uses, ease of use, size, whether to use a color or black-and-white camera or both, and whether to choose a wireless or hard-wired system. Wireless systems usually cost more than hard-wired systems and do not always have perfect transmission; however, they are often easier to set up than are hard-wired systems. However, any kind of covert video and audio system assists law enforcement and does not take days off, quit, or retire. Photographs and list of companies from which to obtain further information
