This equipment standard is a technical document that specifies performance and other requirements that equipment should meet to satisfy the needs of criminal justice agencies for high-quality service. It is intended to establish performance requirements and methods of test for active hand-held metal detectors used to find metal weapons and/or metal contraband carried on a person and/or concealed by a nonmetal object. The document identifies Federal, local, and State law enforcement and corrections agencies that provided comments and input to the writing of the standard.
