Abstract
The article describes the project "Improving the Quality and Accuracy of Bias Crime Statistics Nationally," funded by the Bureau of Justice Statistics, including a review of the national hate crime trends, a summary of results from a national law enforcement survey regarding officer attitudes about hate crime, and several other sources of data. The compilation of these data sources gives key insight into how to both improve hate crime reporting and how to better interpret the data we currently have.
