This manual presents the program for the Federal Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention's (OJJDP's) third National Conference (December 11-13, 2000), whose theme is "Justice for Children: A Vision for the 21st Century."
Abstract
The conference presents OJJDP's vision for ensuring justice for children, whether protecting them from victimization or holding them accountable for delinquent behavior. A conference agenda contains the times and locations of various conference activities, with brief descriptions of each activity, including the topics and content of the various conference workshops. Among the workshops profiled are two models for improving the child protection system; youth/adult partnerships; the latest research on OJJDP's Comprehensive Strategy for Serious, Violent, and Chronic Juvenile Offenders; the YouthARTS program; coalitions for building drug-free communities; and curbing and preventing youth gang violence. Other workshops focus on the developmental needs of girls in the juvenile justice system, the impact of juvenile justice policies on minority youth, dependency court reform, parental kidnapping, and violence prevention and the medical community. Other workshop areas pertain to delinquency prevention programs, including drug prevention, and the development of youths services that target various needs. Also included in this program manual are speaker biographies, a speaker list, and an OJJDP staff list.
