Abstract
Following an introduction to the topic of illegal drug markets, the first three chapters of the volume look at crack distribution and abuse in New York, how young people in Great Britain obtain drugs (drug transactions at the point of consumption), and the impact of heroin prescription on heroin markets in Switzerland. Subsequent chapters deal with women as judicious consumers of drug markets, the development of a typology of illegal drug markets, a case study of heroin use and dealing in an English-Asian community, and Swedish drug markets and drug policies. Finally, chapters consider criminal franchising and the involvement of Albanians in illicit drug markets in Italy, drug trafficking as a cottage industry, understanding the structure of drug trafficking organizations, performance management indicators and drug law enforcement, and links between drug policies and research on drug markets.
