This report summarizes seven studies in the field of drug court research and evaluation.
Abstract
The seven studies were an outcome evaluation for the Cleveland drug court program; a retention and cost-benefit analysis of the Allen County drug court program; an outcome evaluation of the Delaware juvenile drug court program; a recidivism analysis and outcome evaluation of the Orange County drug court program; an outcome evaluation that covered the sanction of the Creek County drug court program; a recidivism and cost-benefit analysis of Project Exodus, Maine's first treatment drug court; and a case-processing evaluation of the Denver drug court. The format for summarizing each of the studies encompasses methodology, program description, participants, and outcomes and findings. The programs typically involve case management services that focus on treatment-offender matching and court monitoring of treatment progress. Data on participants encompasses demographics and charged offenses. Outcomes and findings typically cover recidivism rates for at least 1 year after program completion compared with a control group, retention rate, and graduation rate.
