Abstract
This assessment is intended to provide Federal, State, and local policymakers and law enforcement decision makers information to assist in forming counterdrug policy and plans and allocating resources in efforts against illegal drugs. It reflects the collective knowledge of the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the U.S. Coast Guard, the U.S. Customs Service, the four national counterdrug intelligence centers, and hundreds of law enforcement agencies. Finding showed that there is an overall stability in cocaine, methamphetamine, heroin, and marijuana use but some disturbing trends in use among adolescents and young adults. Dramatic increases have been noted in the availability and use of club drugs, especially MDMA and GHB, and hallucinogens and other illegal drugs available at raves and dance clubs.
