Abstract
After the tragic 1999 shootings at Columbine High School, the book, Shocking Violence, by Dr. Rosemarie Moser and Dr. Corinne Frantz was published providing information and techniques to educate adults and children on the warning signs and the healing process associated with traumatic experiences. Further advice and guidelines regarding young victims of terrorism are offered in this second edition of Shocking Violence. The book and its various contributions are divided into five sections: (1) overview; (2) the needs of youth; (3) legal concerns; (4) forensic issues; and (5) spiritual understanding. This invaluable guide samples information from the areas of psychology, education, parenting, law enforcement, forensics, and religion incorporating both theory, data, and concrete recommendations, and providing advice to helping professionals, educators, parents, and all those who interface with youth. Key intervention strategies are presented for implementation in the field. There is a multidisciplinary focus which is helpful in obtaining a broad perspective on a complex topic.
