This CD-ROM contains all of the U.S. Bureau of Justice Statistics (BJS) publications that are available electronically and were published before December 31, 2002.
Abstract
Publication titles are presented alphabetically, chronologically, and topically. The topical listings are as follows: corrections and criminal offenders, courts and sentencing, crime and victims, criminal justice, criminal record systems, Federal justice system, law enforcement, and prosecution. Reports under these topics encompass annual statistical reports on various subjects, as well as data on specific subjects for particular time periods. Annual statistical reports under the topic of corrections and criminal offenders include data on capital punishment, correctional populations in the United States, drug and crime facts, HIV in prisons, jails in Indian Country, prison and jail inmates, and probation and parole. Annual statistical reports relevant to courts and sentencing pertain to felony defendants in large urban counties, felony sentences in State courts, felony sentences, juveniles in the court system, and State court sentencing of convicted felons. Annual statistical reports on crime and victims pertain to criminal victimization, U.S. homicide trends, and indicators of school crime and safety. Statistical reports under the topic of criminal justice focus on justice expenditures and employment. Annual statistical reports on criminal record systems encompass background checks for firearm transfers, a compendium of State privacy and security legislation, a survey of State criminal history information systems, a summary of State sex offender registries, a survey of State criminal history information systems, and a survey of State procedures related to firearm sales. Publications relevant to Federal justice system include annual statistical reports on Federal criminal case processing, Federal law enforcement officers, and Federal tort trials and verdicts, and a compendium of Federal justice statistics.
