Abstract
Seven tables pertain to drug seizures. One table presents seizures of controlled drugs by class of drug, seizure organization, and year; other tables present the number and quantity of Class A drugs made by H.M. Customs and Excise and by the police and other authorities by drug type and year. The same data are provided for Class B and Class C drugs. Separate tables present data on seizures of controlled drugs made by H.M. Customs and Excise, the police, and other authorities by drug type and amount seized for 2000. Thirty-one tables present statistics on drug offenders. One table presents data on the number of persons processed for drug offenses by age, sex, and action taken for 2000. Separate tables present data on males and females found guilty, cautioned, given a fine, or dealt with by compounding for drug offenses by offense and year. Data are also provided on offenders given various types of sentences by offense type, including unlawful production, unlawful supply, possession with intent to supply unlawfully, unlawful possession, and unlawful import or export. Tables show convictions, cautions, and sentences by type of offense and type of drug involved in the offense. The drug types mentioned in the tables are cocaine, crack cocaine, heroin, LSD, Ecstasy, methadone, amphetamines, cannabis, and anabolic steroids.
