For each State, a table lists the names of tribes and their localities that have a drug court(s) that has been operating over 2 years, has been recently implemented, or is being planned. Codes indicate the type and year of an OJP (Office of Justice Programs, U.S. Department of Justice) grant for each project. The table for each State also lists the total number of tribal drug courts in the State that are operating and that are being planned. Also reported are the number of tribal drug courts that have been suspended and consolidated that were operating or were being planned. Seven States have tribal drug courts that have been operating for over 2 years: Alabama (1), Arizona (2), Idaho (1), Nevada (1), North Carolina (1), South Dakota (2), and Washington State (2). Seventeen States have tribal drug courts that have recently been implemented: Alaska, Arizona, Colorado, Connecticut, Kansas, Maine, Michigan, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Texas, Washington State, Wisconsin, and Wyoming. Forty-one of the recently implemented tribal drug courts are currently active and 10 are inactive. A total of 45 tribal drug courts are being planned for the States of Alaska, Arizona, California, Maine, Michigan, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Dakota, Washington State, and Wisconsin. A total of 10 tribal drug courts that were operating in various States have been suspended or consolidated, and 9 that were being planned have been suspended.
