Abstract
This document presents the 2009-2010 Annual Report of the Canadian Office of the Correctional Investigator. The Office of the Correctional Investigator is part of a network of governmental oversight agencies tasked with providing independent assurance to the Canadian people and their politicians that Federal services are delivered in an open, transparent, and accountable manner. The information in this report is presented in six chapters that cover six key priorities of the Canadian criminal justice system: Access to Physical and Mental Health Care, Deaths in Custody, Conditions of Confinement, Aboriginal Issues, Access to Programs, and Federally Sentenced Women. Each chapter contains a discussion of the issues along with recommendations for change. The report also includes the Correctional Investigator's Outlook for 2010-2011, as well as a response from the Correctional Service of Canada regarding the findings of this Annual Report. This document contains both the English and the French version of the report. Annexes
