Abstract
The 2010 Arizona Youth Survey was administered to 8th, 10th, and 12th grade students during the spring 2010 to assess school safety, adolescent substance use, antisocial behavior, and the risk and protective factors that predict these adolescent behavior problems. This report presents the results of the survey for the city of Phoenix, AZ. Highlights from the report include: 13,063 students participated in the survey in 2010; 60.3 percent of the students had used alcohol in their lifetime, a slight increase from 59.9 percent in 2006; other drugs used significantly by students included cigarettes, marijuana, and prescription drugs; almost 34 percent of the students had used alcohol within the past 30 days, and 20.4 percent had been involved in binge drinking within the past 30 days; just over 61 percent of the students had participated in gambling activities within the past year; and almost 36 percent of the students were identified as being at a high risk for involvement in adolescent problem behaviors. The information in the report is presented in table format and contains comparison data from 2006 and 2008 for the city of Phoenix, as well as 2010 data for the State. Tables and appendix
