"Body Armor for Female Officers: What's Next?" notes that designing and manufacturing armor for female officers involves distinctive issues of coverage and comfort, and progress is being made toward achieving this. "SAVER Program Assesses Equipment for First Responders" profiles the features of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's (DHS's) SAVER Program, which is an online resource that guides purchasing decisions for various types of emergency response products. "Online Certification Takes Training 'Off the Road'" describes how Minnesota has converted its Breath Alcohol Certification (BrAC) training to an online system with assistance from a program funded by the National Institute of Justice (NIJ). "Utah Agency Converts Former Military Vehicle for Use as Ambulance" describes the benefits for Utah's Salt Lake County in converting a former military vehicle into an ambulance that provides rescue and medical assistance in a variety of settings, from congested urban areas to rural mountain locations. "Protecting K-9 Partners" profiles two organizations that facilitate obtaining protective vests for police dogs.
