This online report presents the fiscal year 2016 Program Plan Initiatives of the U.S. Justice Department's Office of Justice Programs.
Abstract
The 2016 Plan preserves OJP's overall program priorities, which are supporting State and local partners in countering violent crime, promoting research and evidence-based approaches, strengthening the juvenile justice system, expanding victim services, and supporting Native-American tribes. The overarching aim is to restore balance and equity in U.S. justice systems. The Plan is presented in 10 thematically organized sections that encompass all OJP bureaus and offices. Each of the 10 sections provides information on the OJP initiatives that reflect the section's theme. The information on each initiative includes the OJP sponsor, the release date, the budgeted funding, program description, total funding budgeted, estimated number of awards, and points of contact. The initiatives are classified under the following themes: (1) Initiatives to address a wide range of criminal and juvenile justice issues; (2) Breaking the cycles of mental illness, substance abuse, and crime; (3) Preventing and intervening in juvenile offending and victimization; (4) Managing offenders to reduce recidivism and promote successful reentry; (5) Effective interventions to address violence, victimization, and victims' rights; (6) Enhancing law enforcement initiatives; (7) Supporting innovation in adjudication; (8) Advancing technology to prevent and solve crime; (9) Innovations in justice information sharing; and (10) Resources to address justice issues in tribal communities. Appended competitive discretionary grants and formula grants
