Abstract
Under its charter, the Board is a discretionary advisory committee established under the authority of the Attorney General of the Justice Department in accordance with the provisions of the Federal Advisory Committee Act (FACA). It is the responsibility of the Board to provide the Assistant Attorney General of the Office of Justice Programs (OJP) with advice in the areas of social science and statistics for the purpose of improving the overall impact and performance of its programs and activities in the areas of criminal and juvenile justice. The Board will also assist in developing long-range plans, advise on program development, and recommend guidance to assist in OJP's adherence to the highest levels of scientific rigor as appropriate. In addition, the Board provides an important base of contact with the criminal justice and juvenile justice academic and practitioner communities. These duties are spelled out in greater detail in the web site. Meeting summaries report on the purpose, proceedings, and decisions of each of the meetings held during the period from January 28, 2011, through March 27-28, 2017.
