Abstract
In the Bulletin's first section, "In the News," significant police policies and activities are summarized for various police jurisdictions, with expanded online access to expanded descriptions. The community-based activities described include police national and local agencies cooperating to confiscate multiple firearms and drugs, with associated arrests; an improved use of police resources to solve more homicides; an effort to develop data-driven tools to combat violent crimes; and police deployment of a social worker to help the homeless. The Bulletin's section on "Announcements" presents summary and online expanded information on a program in community policing development (March 2020), an initiative on youth mentoring opportunities (April 2020), and research and evaluation on drugs and crime for fiscal year 2020 (April 2020). The section on "Upcoming Events" provides summary statements and expanded online descriptions for an officer safety and wellness symposium (February 2020), a symposium on violent crime (May 2020), an IACP technology conference (May 2020), and the Coalition for Juvenile Justice 2020 Annual Conference (June 2020). The Bulletin's section on "Upcoming Webinars" contains descriptions of a webinar on the assessment of childhood trauma by justice professionals (March 2020), steps that build community confidence and promote officer safety (March 2020), and community coordinated responses (March 2020). Another section profiles "Online Learning" courses on prioritizing officer mental and emotional health (eBook) the opioid epidemic from evidence to impact, and sustainability for place-based crime-reduction initiatives. "Highlights from the Sites" cover activities in demonstration sites of the Community Based Crime Reduction (CBCR) initiative.
