REPORT ON A STATISTICAL STUDY OF JUVENILE DELINQUENTS IN TERMS OF EDUCATION AND SOCIAL AND ECONOMIC STATUS OF THEIR FAMILIES, COMPARING JUVENILE DELINQUENTS WHO BELONG TO GANGS WITH THOSE WHO DO NOT.
Abstract
ONE OF THE FINDING WAS THAT LACK OF COHESION AND STABILITY IN THE HOME, LACK OF PARENTS' INVOLVEMENT IN THEIR CHILDREN'S PROBLEMS, AND INSUFFICIENT PARENTAL INTEREST AND CONTROL SEEMED TO BE MORE CHARACTERISTIC OF DELINQUENTS WHO BELONGED TO GANGS THAN OF THOSE WHO DID NOT. ALSO, THE AUTHOR CLAIMS THAT THE FRENCH SCHOOLS PLACE MANY CHILDREN IN SITUATIONS OF FAILURE AND REJECTION, THUS SINKING THEM DEEPER INTO MALADJUSTMENT. --IN FRENCH
