REVIEW OF CRIME PREDICTION INSTRUMENTS DEVISED BY OTHERS AND DESCRIPTION OF THE AUTHORS' OWN INSTRUMENT, WHICH THEY APPLIED TO 399 MALES WHO WERE FORMER RESIDENTS OF A PUBLICLY-RUN HOME FOR JUVENILES.
Abstract
THE AUTHORS' CRIME PREDICTION TEST IS MADE UP OF 11 FACTORS, SOME OF WHICH ARE ASSOCIATED WITH ASOCIAL BEHAVIOR AND SOME WITH JUVENILE OFFENSES. SOME OF THESE FACTORS ARE RUNNING AWAYS, ABUSE OF ALCOHOL, AGGRESSIVE BEHAVIOR AND OFFENSES COMMITTED AS JUVENILES. IT WAS FOUND THAT 220 PERSONS IN THE SAMPLE HAD SUBSEQUENTLY (EIGHT OR TEN YEARS LATER) BEEN IN TROUBLE WITH THE LAW WHILE THE OTHER 179 HAD NOT, WITH THE EXCEPTION OF TRIVIAL OFFENSES. THE NUMBER OF THE 11 FACTORS APPLICABLE TO EACH OF THE SUBJECTS AS A JUVENILE WAS TABULATED, AND CRIMINAL ACTIVITY PROBABILITY PERCENTAGE RANGES WERE SET UP TO CORRESPOND WITH THESE FINDINGS. --IN GERMAN
