SINCE 1972 THE FBI, WITH ASSISTANCE FROM THE INTERNAL REVENUE SERVICE AND THE DEPARTMENT OF HOUSING AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT, HAS PURSUED A COMPREHENSIVE PROGRAM TO ELIMINATE FRAUD AND CORRUPTION IN FHA PROGRAMS.
Abstract
CONCENTRATION HAS BEEN ON FRAUD INVOLVING SINGLE FAMILY HOMES, AREA MANAGEMENT BROKERS, WHO ARE CHARGED WITH THE MAINTENANCE, REPAIR AND RESALE OF FHA-ACQUIRED PROPERTY, AND MULTI-FAMILY DWELLINGS. SOURCES OF DOCUMENTATION ARE SUGGESTED FOR PROVING FRAUD IN EACH OF THESE AREAS. IN THE THREE YEARS SINCE THE INCEPTION OF THIS PROGRAM. THE DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE REPORTS THAT ITS CASELOAD OF FHA-RELATED FRAUD HAS DOUBLED.
