A STATISTICAL REPORT INDICATING DATA ON THE REFERRALS, COMMITMENTS, AND DETENTION OF JUVENILE STATUS OFFENDERS, UNDERTAKEN TO DETERMINE THE EXTENT AND NATURE OF THE STATUS OFFENDER PROBLEM IN GEORGIA.
Abstract
STATEWIDE TOTALS FOR REFERRALS, DETENTIONS AND COMMITMENTS ARE FIRST PRESENTED. COUNTY RANKINGS ARE THEN PROVIDED FOR STATUS REFERRALS TO COURT; DETENTION OF STATUS OFFENDERS IN JAIL, ATTENTION HOMES AND REGIONAL YOUTH DEVELOPMENT CENTERS (RYD'S); AND STATUS COMMITMENTS TO THE DEPARTMENT OF HUMAN RESOURCES, AND PLACEMENT OF COMMITTED STATUS OFFENDER IN YOUTH DEVELOPMENT CENTERS (YDC'S) AND COMMUNITY-BASED ALTERNATIVES. RURAL-URBAN COMPARISONS AND JUDICIAL CIRCUIT COMPARISONS FOR DETENTIONS, REFERRALS, AND COMMITMENTS ARE ALSO INCLUDED. THE APPENDIX INCLUDES EXTENSIVE STATISTICAL TABULATIONS FOR THE COUNTY RANKINGS, RURAL-URBAN COMPARISONS, JUDICIAL CIRCUIT COMPARISONS, AND COUNTY DETENTION, REFERRAL, AND COMMITMENT RATES.
