POLICE CORRUPTION IN NEW YORK IS THE SUBJECT OF THIS ARTICLE; ITS SYSTEMIC NATURE IS DISCUSSED AS ARE WAYS TO GET RID OF IT.
Abstract
THE MOST IMPORTANT STEP TO TAKE IN THE ELIMINATION OF POLICE CORRUPTION WOULD BE TO OBTAIN A FIRM COMMITMENT AGAINST POLICE CORRUPTION FROM THE MAYOR AND THE POLICE. THE INTERNAL AFFAIRS UNIT SHOULD BE ENLARGED, AND THE ENFORCEMENT OF VICTIMLESS CRIME LAWS SHOULD BE REEXAMINED.
