DESCRIPTION OF THE RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT LABORATORY AND SOME OF THE PROGRAMS UNDERTAKEN BY THE CALIFORNIA CRIME TECHNOLOGICAL RESEARCH FOUNDATION (CCTRF).
Abstract
THIS PUBLIC CORPORATION WAS INSTITUTED TO ENCOURAGE AND PROMOTE NEW TECHNOLOGIES AND SCIENTIFIC APPLICATIONS FOR THE PREVENTION, CONTROL, AND DETECTION OF CRIME. THE FUNCTION OF THE CRIME RESEARCH LABORATORY IS TO SOLICIT STATE-OF-THE-ART INFORMATION FROM AVAILABLE SOURCES AND SERVE AS AN ADVISOR TO THOSE SEEKING TECHNICAL ADVICE AND EQUIPMENT COST INFORMATION FOR CRIMINAL JUSTICE EQUIPMENT. THREE MAJOR CRIME PREVENTION-RELATED PROJECTS OF THE CCTRF ARE DISCUSSED: OPERATION BREAKTHROUGH, DEVELOPMENT AND TESTING OF A CASER-BASED ANTI-INTRUSION SYSTEM TO COMBAT RISING CRIME COSTS AT CONSTRUCTION SITES; THE DEVELOPMENT OF BUILDING SECURITY EQUIPMENT PERFORMANCE STANDARDS FOR RESIDENTIAL AND SMALL COMMERCIAL STRUCTURES; AND A STUDY OF THE EXTENT AND NATURE OF TECHNICAL PROBLEMS RELATING TO THE SECURITY OF EXPLOSIVE STORAGE FACILITIES.
