THE PRINCIPLES AND METHODS OF MODERN ORGANIC MASS SPECTROMETRY ARE BRIEFLY DISCUSSED, AND SEVERAL APPLICATIONS OF THE TECHNIQUE TO INVESTIGATIONS OF POLICE CASES ARE PRESENTED.
Abstract
THE MASS SPECTROMETRY APPLICATIONS TO THE INVESTIGATION OF CASES INVOLVING ARSON, MALICIOUS DAMAGE, EXPLOSIVES, TOXICOLOGY, DRUG ABUSE, AND OTHERS ARE ILLUSTRATED WITH EXAMPLES DRAWN FROM CASEWORK EXPERIENCE. NOTING THAT ORGANIC MASS SPECTROMETRY IS A RELATIVELY NEW TECHNIQUE IN FORENSIC SCIENCE, THE AUTHORS DISCUSS SOME METHODS AND APPLICATIONS WHICH MAY BE DEVELOPED IN THE FUTURE.
