Abstract
OBJECTIVES OF THE PUBLIC AWARENESS COMPONENT INCLUDED THE PRODUCTION AND DISTRIBUTION OF RADIO AND TELEVISION ANNOUNCEMENTS, THE CREATION AND DISTRIBUTION OF NEWSPAPER ARTICLES, THE DEVELOPMENT AND DISTRIBUTION OF PUBLIC INTEREST ADVERTISEMENTS TO NEWSPAPERS, MAGAZINES, AND BILLBOARDS, AND THE SOLICITATION OF HELP IN PUBLICIZING INFORMATION FROM PUBLICATION EDITORS AND NEWS DIRECTORS OF ELECTRONIC MEDIA. OBJECTIVES OF THE DBR STUDY WERE TO DEFINE THE AUTHORITY OF THE DEPARTMENT AND TO DISCUSS ITS ABILITY TO DETECT ORGANIZED CRIME, TO DETERMINE THE ROLE OF THE DEPARTMENT IN RELATION TO STATE AND LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES, TO MAKE POLICY AND PROCEDURE RECOMMENDATIONS, AND TO MAKE ORGANIZATIONAL AND LEGISLATIVE RECOMMENDATIONS.
