THIS NOTE TRACES THE HISTORY OF THE RIGHT TO A SPEEDY TRIAL AS IT DEVELOPED THROUGH CASE LAW AND EVALUATES RELEVANT PROVISIONS OF OHIO STATUTES IN COMPARISON WITH OTHER STATE LAWS, COURT RULES, AND VARIOUS PROPOSALS.
Abstract
THE ROLE OF THE COURTS IN INTERPETING THE STATUTES IS ALSO EXAMINED. PROBABLE IMPACT OF THE OHIO LAWS ON THE ADMINISTRATION OF JUSTICE IS ASSESSED BY ANALYZING THE PRACTICAL EFFECT OF SUCH PROCEDURES IN JURISDICTIONS RULED BY SIMILAR STATUTES. (AUTHOR ABSTRACT MODIFIED)
