Abstract
FOUR PANEL MEMBERS OFFER REMARKS, BASED ON THEIR EXPERIENCES, OF THE IMPORTANCE AND EFFECT OF SCHOOL AND HOME ENVIRONMENTS ON JUVENILE DELINQUENCY AND DELINQUENCY PREVENTION. THE PANELISTS INCLUDE THE CO-DIRECTOR OF THE NATIONAL COUNCIL ON CRIME AND DELINQUENCY RESEARCH CENTER, THE NATIONAL EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF THE LOS ANGELES - BASED CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS FOUNDATION, A LOS ANGELES SCHOOL ADMINISTRATOR, AND A MINNESOTA DISTRICT ATTORNEY. A DISCUSSION OF THE REQUISITES FOR BUILDING COORDINATED COURT-COMMUNITY/ SCHOOL PROGRAMS IS FOLLOWED BY A DESCRIPTION OF A LAS VEGAS/CLARK COUNTY (NV) JOINT PROGRAM WHICH OPERATED A DAY CARE COPING CENTER AND LEARNING FOUNDATION FOR ADJUDICATED DELINQUENTS. THIS COMMUNITY BASED TREATMENT PROGRAM EMPHASIZED REMEDIAL SKILLS AND CORRECTION OF TRUANCY AND BEHAVIOR PROBLEMS. A BRIEF EXPLANATION AND HISTORY OF THE JUVENILE JUSTICE AND DELINQUENCY PREVENTION ACT OF 1974 ALSO COVERS CONSIDERATIONS RELATING TO FUNDING PROBLEMS.
