A 1974 FEASIBILITY STUDY OF UNIFIED LAW ENFORCEMENT IN DES MOINES COUNTY, WHOSE POPULATION OF 47,000 PERSONS IN AN AREA OF 409 SQUARE MILES IS SERVED BY 52 SWORN POLICE AND 5 CIVILIAN PERSONNEL.
Abstract
PRESENTED IS A SUMMARY OF THE ACTIVITIES, FINDINGS, AND RECOMMENDATIONS OF THE SOUTH IOWA AREA CRIME COMMISSION. EXISTING LAW ENFORCEMENT FACILITIES THROUGHOUT THE COUNTY, THEIR COMMUNICATIONS SYSTEMS, RECORDS SYSTEMS, AND PLANNING AND RESEARCH CAPABILITIES WERE ASSESSED. ALONG WITH AN ANALYSIS OF THESE FUNCTIONS, RECOMMENDATIONS AND IMPLEMENTATION PLANS RELATIVE TO CONSOLIDATION ARE PRESENTED.
