DISCUSSION OF THE PARTICULAR VULNERABILITY OF THE ELDERLY TO CONSUMER AND OTHER TYPES OF FRAUD, THE TYPES OF FRAUD PERPETRATED AGAINST THEM, AND THE PROBLEMS OF ELDERLY VICTIMS IN DEALING WITH THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM.
Abstract
THE ARTICLE CONCLUDES THAT THERE IS A SPECIAL NEED FOR NEW LAWS WITH STATUTORY SHIELDS AGAINST CRIMINAL EXPLOITATION OF THE ELDERLY. SUCH SHIELDS WOULD TAKE THE FORM OF HARSHER PENALTIES AND MORE INTENSIVE ENFORCEMENT AGAINST CRIMES THAT BEAR PARTICULARLY ON THE ELDERLY AS VICTIMS. (AUTHOR ABSTRACT)...ELW
