REPORT OF A PROJECT FUNDED BY FEDERAL TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE TO DETERMINE THE FEASIBILITY OF USING A COMPUTER DRIVEN MICROFILMING STORAGE AND RETRIEVAL SYSTEM AS A SOLUTION TO RECORD MANAGEMENT PROBLEMS.
Abstract
THIS PROJECT WAS UNDERTAKEN IN RESPONSE TO A NEED FOR: DEVELOPING AN OVERVIEW OF THE MICROFILMING REQUIREMENTS OF THE COUNTY'S JUSTICE RELATED DEPARTMENTS, DETERMINING WHETHER COMPUTER DRIVEN MICROFILMING SYSTEMS COULD BE USED JOINTLY BY THESE DEPARTMENTS, AND HAVING A COST BENEFIT ANALYSIS OF SUCH A SYSTEM. IT WAS CONCLUDED FROM THIS STUDY THAT IT WAS NOT ADVISABLE TO INSTALL ANY MICROFILM RETRIEVAL SYSTEM FOR AT LEAST A YEAR OR TWO BECAUSE CURRENT TECHNICAL CONDITIONS INDICATE A HIGH RISK FACTOR. FURTHER STUDY WAS ALSO RECOMMENDED, AS WELL AS CAREFUL PLANNING AT ALL STAGES OF THE MODERNIZATION. (AUTHOR ABSTRACT)...KAP
