BOOKLET PRESENTS BACKGROUND AND SCIENTIFIC INFORMATION ON MARIJUANA, AND DISCUSSES SOME SOCIAL IMPLICATIONS.
Abstract
THE DEBATE ON THE MARIJUANA ISSUE HAS BEEN CHARACTERIZED BY EXAGGERATION AND FALSE DATA ON BOTH SIDES, ACCORDING TO THIS BOOKLET WHICH ATTEMPTS TO CUT THROUGH THE FOG. THE FIRST PART SUMMARIZES THE HISTORICAL, SOCIAL, AND, MEDICAL INFORMATION THAN CAN SERVE AS A BASIS FOR RATIONAL POLICYMAKING. THE BOOK ALSO PROVIDES LEGISLATIVE GUIDELINES FOR POLICYMAKERS WHO WANT TO CONSIDER CHANGING THEIR STATE'S MARIJUANA LAWS. STUDIES ARE CITED FROM STATES THAT HAVE DECRIMINALIZED MARIJUANA TO SEE WHAT RESULTS CAN BE DRAWN. RELATED INFORMATION ON THIS CAN BE FOUND IN NCJ-40225 AND NCJ-40227.....BS
