FINAL PROGRESS REPORT ON A PROJECT WHICH PROVIDED BASIC AND ADVANCED COURSES IN LAW ENFORCEMENT, INFORMATIONAL AND TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE ACTIVITIES, AND LIAISON ACTIVITIES WITH AGENCIES INVOLVED IN CRIME PREVENTION.
Abstract
THE NATIONAL CRIME PREVENTION INSTITUTE, OPERATED BY THE SCHOOL OF POLICE ADMINISTRATION AT THE UNIVERSITY OF LOUISVILLE WAS DESIGNED TO AID THE GROWING CRIME PREVENTION FIELD BY SERVING AS THE NATIONAL EDUCATIONAL AND TECHNICAL RESOURCES CENTER FOR CRIME PREVENTION ACTIVITIES. SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES OF THIS PROGRAM WERE TO CONDUCT SEVERAL CRIME PREVENTION TRAINING PROGRAMS, TO EVALUATE ONGOING TRAINING IN ORDER TO ADJUST AND MODIFY THE EXISTING TRAINING PROGRAM, AND TO PROVIDE TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE TO ONGOING PROGRAMS AND INSTITUTIONS THROUGH PUBLICATION OF A CRIME PREVENTION BULLETIN, OPERATION OF A CRIME PREVENTION INFORMATION CENTER, AND PROVISION OF ON-SITE TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE VISITS. THE PROJECT WAS ALSO TO MAINTAIN LIAISON WITH BUSINESSES INVOLVED IN SECURITY PRODUCTS, THE INSURANCE INDUSTRY, AND TESTING GROUPS. THIS REPORT DETAILS THE ACTIVITIES OF THE INSTITUTE IN TRAINING, TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE, AND ADMINISTRATION, AND REPORTS ON THE PROGRESS MADE IN ATTAINING PROJECT OBJECTIVES. ATTACHMENTS INCLUDE A 1976 REVIEW OF OPERATIONS, MATERIALS RELATING TO SEVERAL CRIME PREVENTION TRAINING PROGRAMS, AND A SELECTED BIBLIOGRAPHY ON CRIME PEVENTION AND SECURITY....DMC
