Abstract
ALSO INCLUDED IS AN INTRODUCTION ON THE ORIGINS AND PRESENT STATUS OF THE CONSUMER MOVEMENT AND AN EPILOGUE SUMMARIZING THE MAJOR TRENDS THE CONSUMER MOVEMENT IS LIKELY TO FOLLOW AND THE DEMANDS IT WILL MAKE ON THE ECONOMY, AS REFLECTED IN THE SPEECHES AND DISCUSSIONS OF THE CONFEREES. THE CONFERENCE BROUGHT TOGETHER ABOUT 80 INVITED PARTICIPANTS AND SPEAKERS, REPRESENTING THE BUSINESS COMMUNITY, THE NONPROFIT SECTOR, CONSUMER ORGANIZATIONS, AND ACADEMIA. A LIST OF PARTICIPANTS IS PRESENTED AT THE END OF THIS BOOK. NINETEEN SPEAKERS ADDRESSED THE CONFERENCE, AND THEIR SELECTIONS ARE PRESENTED. A LIST OF THESE AUTHORS IS ALSO GIVEN. THE STIMULUS FOR THE CONFERENCE LAY IN THE CONFERENCE SPONSOR'S FEELING THAT THE TIME WAS RIPE TO BRING BUSINESS AND CONSUMER SPOKESPERSONS TOGETHER IN THE DISPASSIONATE ATMOSPHERE OF A COLLEGE CAMPUS TO SHARE THEIR VIEWS REGARDING THE ROLE AND LIKELY FUTURE OF THE CONSUMER MOVEMENT.(AUTHOR ABSTRACT)...TWH
