Abstract
THE AUTHOR REVIEWS AND ANALYZES THE METHODS, RESULTS, AND CONCLUSIONS OF EXPERIMENTS CONDUCTED BY VARIOUS BEHAVIORAL SCIENTISTS AND JURISTS ON THE EFFECTS OF VIDEOTAPE ON COURT PROCEEDINGS. THE SEPARATE ISSUES OF THE USE OF VIDEOTAPE AS THE OFFICIAL COURT RECORD AND AS PRERECORDED TRIAL EVIDENCE PRESENTATIONS ARE DISCUSSED. THE PRIMARY EMPHASIS IS PLACED ON THE CRITIQUE OF THE STUDIES CONDUCTED BY ERNEST H. SHORT (NCJ 40782), MICHIGAN STATE UNIVERSITY (NCJ 40780), AND BRIGHAM YOUNG UNIVERSITY (NCJ 40781).
