VICTIM PRECIPITATION IS DEFINED AS IT APPLIES TO INDEX CRIMES, AND ITS ESTIMATED INCIDENCE IN THE UNITED STATES IS REPORTED FROM THE FINDINGS OF A NATIONAL STUDY OF SAMPLES OF POLICE REPORTS ON SERIOUS VIOLENT CRIMES.
